正面描述 Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Severus Alexander facing right, seen from the front, rendered in the provincial Roman style typical of the Troad mint. The effigy presents the emperor in military attire, combining the imperial wreath of laurel with a cuirass and drapery over the left shoulder. The obverse legend encircles the bust identifying the emperor by his full nomenclature.

附加信息

Alexandria Troas was a Roman colony — Colonia Alexandria Augusta Troadensis — planted on the site of ancient Antigonia by Lysimachus and refounded under Augustus. Its colonial status granted the right to strike bronze coinage in a Roman idiom, and issues under Severus Alexander continued that privilege through his full thirteen-year reign. The colony's mint was unusually productive by provincial standards, supplying a trading port that served both Aegean and overland traffic toward the Troad interior.

The VI#4041 reference situates this piece within von Fritze's systematic cataloguing of Troas coinage, a classification still foundational to the series.
