Acmonea was a Phrygian city that punched above its weight in civic coinage output during the Severan period, maintaining active mints under local magistrates whose names frequently appear on the coin itself — a practice that tied municipal prestige directly to bronze production. The conventus of Apamea, under which Acmonea fell administratively, was one of the most prolific regional groupings for Greek Imperial issues in Asia Minor.
The VI reference places this within Voegtlin's corpus of Acmonean civic bronzes, a series where die linkage studies have revealed surprisingly small production runs for individual magistrate issues.
