| Beschrijving keerzijde | Turreted, veiled, and draped bust of Tyche facing right, the mural crown prominently rendered with multiple battlements atop the goddess's veiled head, signifying her role as the tutelary deity and personification of the city of Petra. | Aanvullende informatie |
Petra received its designation as a metropolis under Hadrian, likely formalized during or shortly after his eastern tour of 129–130 AD, when the emperor visited the region and the city appears to have been elevated in civic status. The title ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛΙϹ on this bronze reflects that grant directly — it is administrative history struck into metal. Petra's coinage is sparse by provincial standards, and the civic bronze series from this period survives in genuinely small numbers.
