Æ21 - Gordian III ΜΥΡΕΙΝΑΙΩΝ

Myrina was a small coastal polis in Aeolis whose civic coinage under Gordian III belongs to the broader explosion of Greek Imperial bronze issues produced across western Asia Minor during his reign — a period when local city mints seized on the young emperor's accession to assert civic identity through controlled bronze production. The conventus of Smyrna administered legal jurisdiction over the region, which is why so many Aiolian civic bronzes of this era share administrative characteristics despite originating from distinct communities.

Myrina's output under Gordian remains sparse in the surviving record. VII.1#294 is the relevant RPC reference for this type.
