Hydisus was a minor Carian city whose civic coinage under Gordian III represents one of the more obscure municipal issues of the mid-third century. The magistrates named in the legend — Ermonas and Metrophanes — held the office of stephanephoros, the crown-bearing civic magistracy that in many Asian cities doubled as the eponymous dating office. That two names appear jointly is unusual and suggests either a shared tenure or a transitional administrative arrangement we can no longer fully reconstruct.
RPC VII.1 #649 is known from a very small number of specimens.
