Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, a presentation style characteristic of provincial Asian mint portraiture of the mid-third century AD. The imperial effigy displays paludamentum folds over the left shoulder and segmented cuirass details beneath. The encircling Greek legend occupies the field around the portrait. The coin has developed a rich green patina consistent with extended burial.
