| Obverse description | Helmeted and draped bust of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet, the drapery visible at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the classical provincial style, with the broad crest of the helmet dominating the upper field. No legend appears on the obverse, the entire field being occupied by the deity's bust. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat uneven, typical of late provincial Athenian bronze coinage. |

| Reverse description | Asclepius, the god of medicine, depicted standing facing left in a long chiton and himation, his left hand resting at his waist while he leans with his right hand upon the knotted serpent-entwined staff (the caduceus of Asclepius). The figure is rendered in a dignified, classical pose standard to provincial Athenian bronzes of the Gallienic period. The ethnic legend ΑΘΗΝΑΙΩΝ (meaning 'of the Athenians') appears in the field, identifying the issuing city. |
