| Beschrijving keerzijde | Poseidon, the patron deity of Lampsacus, depicted standing left with his right foot raised and resting upon the prow of a ship, a compositional allusion to the city's maritime prominence. In his extended right hand he holds a dolphin, and in his left hand he grasps a long trident. The figure is rendered in a robust, slightly provincial style consistent with Mysian civic bronzes of the Gallienic period. The reverse legend, naming the local magistrate Atresios, runs around the field in Greek characters. |
