| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare head of the emperor Caligula (Gaius Caesar) facing right, rendered in a naturalistic Hellenistic style with short, lightly curled hair. The portrait is set within a beaded border encircling the coin's face. The Greek legend ΓΑΙΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ runs around the periphery, identifying the emperor by name and title. The effigy displays the characteristic sharp facial features associated with Caligula's portraiture on provincial bronze coinage. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Amorium was a Phrygian city of modest prominence, and its civic bronze issues under Caligula are relatively rare survivals. The magistrate names in the legend — Silvanus and Justus — are attested nowhere else in the city's coinage, making this issue a narrow chronological marker within an already brief reign. Caligula's assassination in January 41 AD curtailed the output of provincial bronzes across the eastern mints almost immediately, as cities waited to gauge the new Claudian administration before committing to fresh issues.
