Obverse description Bare head of Gaius Caesar facing right, rendered in a youthful portrait style typical of Augustan-era provincial coinage. The legend ΓΑΙΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ is disposed in the field around the portrait, with characters visible to either side of the effigy. The die work reflects the local engraving tradition of the Lydian mint at Tralles, with a compact flan and somewhat rough surfaces characteristic of civic bronze issues of this period.
