Reverse description Dionysus, the god of wine, depicted standing in contrapposto facing left, extending a cantharus (wine cup) downward toward a panther at his feet, while his right hand holds a long thyrsus — the fennel-staff wreathed with ivy leaves that serves as his divine attribute. The figure is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition common to Pontic civic bronzes. The encircling ethnic legend ΑΒΩΝΟΤΕΙΧΕΙΤΩΝ runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the issuing city of Abonoteichos. The surface is worn with dark patina obscuring finer details.
