Reverse description A river god reclines to the left in a relaxed pose, his semi-draped figure resting upon the ground. He holds what appears to be a reed or plant stem in his extended right hand, while his left arm leans upon an overturned urn from which water flows, symbolising the local river associated with the city of Mostene. The ethnic legend ΜΟΣΤΗΝΩΝ ΚΑΙΣΑΡΕΩΝ is disposed around the figure in the field. The composition is consistent with standard provincial river god typology of Asia Minor under the Flavian dynasty.
