| Beschrijving keerzijde | Tyche, the personification of fortune and patron deity of the city, stands facing left in a full-length draped figure. In her extended right hand she holds a ship's rudder, symbolising the city's destiny and prosperity, while her left arm cradles a cornucopia overflowing with fruits and abundance. The figure occupies the central field, with the civic legend ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ disposed around the periphery. The composition is typical of Ionian provincial bronzes struck under the joint reign of Valerian and Gallienus. |
