| 背面描述 | Tyche, the personification of Fortune and tutelary deity of Ephesus, stands facing left in a long chiton and himation. In her extended right hand she holds a small cult statuette of Ephesian Artemis, the principal goddess of the city, and in her left hand she carries a cornucopia symbolising abundance. The reverse legend identifies both the city and the deity, and the composition reflects the strong civic pride of Ephesus in its divine patronage. The type is a standard civic reverse type for Ephesian provincial bronzes of the Valerianic period. |
