Reverse description Artemis, the patron deity of Ephesus, standing facing with head turned to the right, clad in a long chiton with diplois (double fold), holding a long torch diagonally across her body with both hands. A star appears in the field. The reverse legend ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ, identifying the issuing city of the Ephesians, is placed around the figure within a beaded border, rendered in the bold Greek lettering typical of Ionian provincial coinage of the mid-third century.
