Corinth was refounded as a Roman colony by Julius Caesar in 44 BC — almost exactly a century after Lucius Mummius had razed the Greek city to rubble — and its colonial coinage reflects an aggressively Latin civic identity unusual among eastern provincial mints. This issue falls within the joint magistracy period when local duoviri controlled the dies, and RPC I 1146 is attributed to a specific magistrate pairing, though the names themselves are worn beyond certainty on most surviving specimens.
The colony's bronze output drops sharply after the reign of Tiberius, making pieces from his final regnal years relatively scarce in any condition.
