Caesarea in Cappadocia was the principal mint of that province under Roman rule, operating with unusual consistency through the Severan dynasty while much of the eastern coinage was being reorganized. The city's mint dated issues by regnal year rather than by era, making the EΤ Η (year 8) designation here a precise anchor to 228–229 AD — the eighth year of Severus Alexander's reign. That precision is rare in provincial bronze and makes Cappadocian issues unusually useful for chronologists.
