Additional information

Apollonis was a small Lydian city of modest standing, founded by Attalid rulers and named — most likely — after Apollonis of Cyzicus, mother of Attalos II and Eumenes II. Under Roman provincial administration it fell within the conventus of Pergamum, whose assizes gave even minor cities occasion to strike civic bronze. Issues bearing Septimius Severus's name from this mint are genuinely scarce; Apollonis was never a prolific producer, and the city's output across his entire reign amounts to a handful of recorded types.
