| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large filleted crescent occupies the central field, its horns pointing upward, with an eight-rayed star prominently displayed within the concave interior of the crescent. Fillet ties hang from the base of the crescent, a symbol deeply associated with the lunar cult of the god Sin (Men), the principal deity venerated at Carrhae. The Greek colonial legend ΑΥΡ ΚΑΡ ΚΟΛΟΝ, abbreviating Aurelia Karrhae Colonia, is distributed around the periphery. The composition reflects the religious and civic identity of the Severan colonial foundation at Carrhae, with the dotted border visible around the coin's edge. |
