Reverse description Pan, the god of the wild, depicted standing and facing right in the field, rendered as a full-length figure with his characteristic rustic form. He holds a bunch of grapes in one hand and cradles the infant Dionysus in the other arm, referencing the mythological tradition of Pan as a nurse of the young god of wine — a theme particularly appropriate for the vine-rich island of Zacynthus. The ethnic legend ΖΑΚΥΝΘΙωΝ is distributed in the field around the figure, with the Zeta rendered in an unusual エ-shaped form. The reverse die is struck on an irregular flan with some peripheral weakness.
