Reverse description A Heraklean club depicted upright and in full, standing vertically in the center of the field, rendered with characteristic knobbly surface detail. The club is a well-known symbol associated with Herakles, the legendary ancestor of the Spartan royal lineage, and was a common reverse type on Lacedaemonian civic bronzes of the Imperial period. The ethnic legend ΛΑΚΕ is distributed around the device in the field.
