Argos struck bronze for local use throughout the imperial period, but issues under Marcus Aurelius are notably sparse in the record — the city's civic mint was intermittently active at best, and surviving examples from this reign turn up rarely in excavation or trade. The Argive bronze series of this period tends to show heavy die rust and surface porosity, a consequence of inconsistent alloy preparation rather than post-burial corrosion.
