附加信息	Magnesia ad Maeandrum had long leveraged its claim as the mythological birthplace of Themistocles to punch above its weight in the civic coinage hierarchy of the Maeander valley. Under Marcus Aurelius, the city was navigating the pressures of the Parthian War and a devastating plague that swept the eastern provinces after 165 — the so-called Antonine Plague, which Galen documented firsthand and which killed perhaps five million people across the empire. The conventus at Miletus administered coin authorization for this region, meaning Magnesia's issues required approval from the Roman proconsul of Asia.
