Attaea was a minor inland city of Mysia, historically overshadowed by Pergamon to its south, and its civic bronze output was modest by any measure. Issues attributable to the sole reign of Marcus Aurelius — before Commodus was elevated to co-emperor in 177 and then succeeded him in 180 — occupy a narrow window, and the ethnic legend ΑΤΤΑΙΤΩΝ confirms civic rather than koinon sponsorship. Few hoards document Attaean bronzes in any quantity, which complicates die-linkage studies for the series.
