| Reverse description | Asclepius, the god of medicine, depicted standing facing, slightly turned to the right, nude but for a cloak draped over the left shoulder. He holds a long serpent-entwined staff (kerykeion of Asclepius) in his left hand and what appears to be a scroll or patera in his right hand. A serpent or animal figure is visible at his feet in the lower left field. The ethnic legend ΤΙΑΝΩΝ appears in the field to either side of the deity, identifying the issuing city of Tium. |
