Alexandria's civic bronze production under Hadrian ran on the Egyptian regnal year system, making these issues precisely datable in a way most provincial bronzes are not. Year 11 (L ΙΑ) places this coin in 126/127 AD, during Hadrian's celebrated visit to Egypt — he arrived in late 130, so this predates that journey, but the province was already being administered with unusual imperial attention throughout his reign.
ΟΜΒΙΤΗϹ identifies the coin with the nome of Ombos, one of the administrative districts whose personifications appear on Hadrianic Alexandrian bronzes as part of a systematic civic series documenting Egyptian geography.
