| Reverse description | The Capitoline She-wolf standing to right, head lowered, suckling the twin infants Romulus and Remus who recline beneath her. The type alludes to the Roman mythological foundation legend and reflects the city's loyalty to Rome under Hadrian. The Greek civic legend ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΑΤΩΝ ΑΠΟ ΡΥΝΔΑΚΟΥ is arranged around the periphery of the field, identifying the issuing community of Apollonia on the Rhyndacus. A ground line is visible beneath the figures. The overall style is consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the Cyzicene conventus. |
