Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus facing right, depicted in the Roman imperial portrait tradition. The emperor's effigy shows the characteristic youthful features associated with this ruler. A partial Latin legend encircles the bust, reading IMP C M AVR ANTONINVS AVG. The flan is irregular and the coin shows heavy patination consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period.
