| Reverse description | Zeus standing to the left in full figure, holding a thunderbolt in his extended right hand and a long sceptre in his left. The deity is rendered in the conventional Hellenistic tradition, with the figure occupying the central field. The ethnic legend ΟΡΘΩϹΙΕΩΝ is distributed to either side of the standing figure, identifying the issuing city of Orthosia in Phoenicia. The overall style is characteristic of Syrian provincial bronze coinage of the Flavian period. |
