| Beschrijving keerzijde | A griffin seated to the right, depicted with folded wings and its forepaw resting upon or placed beside a wheel. The griffin, a mythological creature combining the body of a lion with the head and wings of an eagle, was a common reverse type on Alexandrian provincial bronzes and carried strong solar and apotropaic symbolism. The type is rendered in the characteristic bold style of the Alexandrian mint. The reverse field is otherwise plain with no additional legend. |
