| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Claudius facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic-Egyptian style characteristic of Alexandrian coinage. The emperor wears a radiate laurel wreath, with drapery visible at the shoulder. The Greek legend is arranged around the periphery of the flan, with the inscription partially visible on both sides of the portrait. The portrait displays strong modelling of facial features typical of Julio-Claudian numismatic portraiture as adapted by the Alexandrian mint. |
