附加信息

Thyatira, a Lydian city best known today from the Book of Revelation's seven churches, struck this issue under Claudius to honor Agrippina the Younger following her elevation to Augusta in 50 AD — one of the very few occasions a living empress received that title during her husband's reign. The city's loyalty here was not purely ceremonial; Thyatira depended heavily on imperial goodwill for its guild-based textile economy, and civic bronze issues honoring the imperial household were a pragmatic form of political alignment.

Agrippina was poisoned in 59 AD on Nero's orders. Issues bearing her name from Claudius's final years are correspondingly rare survivors of a damnatio atmosphere that suppressed her memory across much of the empire.
