This sacred object is associated with the principal deity venerated at Pautalia. The Greek legend OYΛΠΙAC ΠΑΥΤΑΛΙΑC, naming the city of Ulpia Pautalia, is distributed around the periphery. The composition is austere and hieratic, characteristic of the religious iconography employed on civic bronzes of Thracian Pautalia during the Severan period. |
