| Beschrijving keerzijde | An eagle standing to the left, wings partially spread, holding a caduceus in its talons; the bird is depicted on an uncertain object, possibly an altar or base. The design occupies the central field, encircled by a Greek legend distributed around the periphery referencing the local magistrates Silvanus and Justus of the Vipsanii, and the ethnic of Amorium. The style is typical of Phrygian provincial bronze coinage under Caligula, with a somewhat crude but expressive rendering of the eagle motif. |

Amorium was a Phrygian city of middling regional importance, and its civic bronze issues under Caligula are notable primarily for naming local magistrates — Silvanus and Justus here — whose tenures help anchor the coin's date within the reign. Civic mints in the Synnada conventus operated with considerable autonomy during this period, producing bronze for local exchange entirely outside Roman imperial mint oversight.
Caligula's assassination in January 41 AD gives this issue a hard terminus.
