| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the restrained Augustan classicising style typical of provincial Phrygian coinage. A lituus (augural staff) appears before the portrait, referencing Augustus's religious authority as augur. The obverse legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ is disposed around the portrait in Greek characters. The flan is somewhat irregular, as is characteristic of Conventus of Synnada civic issues of this period. |

Amorium was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Augustus typically names local magistrates responsible for the issue — here, Menelaos son of Menokritos, whose family is otherwise unattested. The Conventus of Synnada was one of the judicial districts Rome used to administer Asia Minor, and cities within it retained the right to strike small bronze for local use throughout the Augustan period. This piece is among the more obscure survivors of that arrangement.
