Additional information

Tripolis in Lydia was a modest polis whose civic coinage depended entirely on the goodwill of Roman administration — the magistrate name ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΟΣ ΑΝΔΡΟΝΕΙΚΟΥ appearing here reflects the local Greek elite who negotiated that permission through the conventus at Sardis, the judicial assize center where provincial governors held court. The right to strike bronze was granted locally, not automatically, and naming the responsible magistrate was how the city documented accountability to Rome.
