| Beschrijving keerzijde | A rider on horseback proceeding to the right occupies the central field, depicted in a dynamic pose characteristic of Hellenistic equestrian imagery common on provincial bronzes of Asia Minor. Beneath the horse, a maeander (Greek key) decorative pattern is visible in the exergual area, a motif emblematic of the Maeander river valley region and frequently employed on coinage of Lydian cities. The surrounding Greek legend names the magistrate Tryphon Philopatridos and the civic authority of Tripolis, distributed around the periphery of the coin. The overall style is consistent with the provincial mint output of the Augustan period in Lydia. |
