| Reverse description | An eagle standing, facing, with wings spread, rendered in a sturdy Hellenistic style typical of civic bronzes from the Lydian conventus. The Greek civic ethnic ΚΑΙΣΑΡΕΩΝ (of the Caesareans, i.e. the people of Tralles under their honorific name) is inscribed around the eagle in the field. A dotted border encircles the design. The type reflects the city's loyalty to the Julio-Claudian dynasty at the time of the adoption of the name Caesareia. |
