Obverse description Bare-necked, laureate bust of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, with a short beard rendered in fine detail, the hair bound by a wreath of laurel leaves. The draped paludamentum is visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait in the field, struck in a style characteristic of the provincial bronze coinage of Bithynia. The overall execution reflects the competent, if somewhat provincial, engraving tradition of Nicomedia's mint under the Antonine dynasty.
