Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, the portrait rendered in the typical Roman provincial style with the laureate wreath clearly delineated around the head. The bust is bare or lightly draped at the shoulder truncation. A circular legend surrounds the effigy, running along the periphery of the flan, though heavily worn on this example. The overall style reflects the local Corinthian die-cutting tradition of the mid-second century AD.
