| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing left, with draped shoulder visible, rendered in the Roman provincial style characteristic of the Alexandrian mint. The imperial effigy displays the characteristic wreath of laurel leaves bound around the head. A Greek legend encircles the portrait in the field, reading from upper right around to the left. The coin bears a pierced hole at the top, indicating later use as a pendant or amulet, a common practice in Roman Egypt. |
