| Obverse description | Tiberius, togate and standing right, raises by the hand the kneeling figure of Tyche of Sardis, who is depicted in supplicant posture before him. The composition conveys the emperor's beneficence toward the city following the devastating earthquake of AD 17. The circular Greek legend runs around the field, naming the emperor and the Sardians. |
