Obverse description Tiberius, togate and standing right, raises by the hand the kneeling figure of Tyche of Sardis, who is depicted in supplicant posture before him. The composition conveys the emperor's beneficence toward the city following the devastating earthquake of AD 17. The circular Greek legend runs around the field, naming the emperor and the Sardians.

Reverse description Livia (Julia Augusta), seated right on a high-backed throne, holding a long sceptre in her left hand and ears of corn in her extended right hand. The figure is rendered in a dignified, classical style, assimilated to the goddess Demeter. The surrounding Greek legend names the local magistrates Kleon and Memnon responsible for the coin's issue.
