| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Julia Mamaea facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Lydian mint at Tabala. The effigy displays finely articulated drapery at the shoulder and a diadem across the brow. The encircling Greek legend reads ΙΟΥ ΜΑΜΑΙΑ ϹΕ, identifying the empress as Julia Mamaea Augusta, mother of Severus Alexander. The portrait is executed with moderate relief typical of Severan-era provincial bronzes from the Conventus of Sardis. |
