| Reverse description | The river god Hermos depicted in reclining pose facing left, his body semi-recumbent in the conventional personification of a river deity. He holds a reed in one hand and a cornucopia in the other, while resting his elbow upon an overturned vase from which water flows, symbolising the river's source. The composition follows the established Hellenistic iconographic tradition for river gods as seen widely across Asia Minor provincial coinage. The encircling legend ΕΡΜΟϹ ΤΑΒΑΛΕΩΝ identifies both the deity and the issuing city. |
