Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Severus Alexander facing right, depicted from behind, the radiate crown rendered in bold relief. The effigy presents the emperor in military dress, the paludamentum visible over the cuirass. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, reading ΑΥΤΟ ΚΑΙϹ ΜΑΡ ΑΥΡ ϹΕ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his imperial titles. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show characteristic provincial fabric with a rough, granular texture.
