Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Geta facing right, viewed from the rear, set within a dotted border. The portrait renders the young prince with characteristic Severan dynastic styling. The Greek legend ΠΟ ϹΕ ΓΕΤΑϹ appears in the field, identifying the subject as Publius Septimius Geta. The flan is irregular, consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the period.

Aanvullende informatie

Tralles, a prosperous city in the Maeander valley, was one of the more active civic minting authorities under Septimius Severus, issuing bronze across multiple denomination sizes throughout his reign. The city had been devastated by earthquake in 26 BC and rebuilt with Augustan patronage — a debt to Roman authority that manifested in consistent loyalty to imperial coinage conventions for the next two centuries.

The conventus of Ephesus administered civic bronze across a dense cluster of Lydian and Carian cities, and Tralles competed actively within that group for prestige issues.
