Reverse description Hygieia, goddess of health and daughter of Asclepius, depicted standing facing right in long draped garments. She extends her right hand forward holding a patera from which she feeds a large serpent that rears up before her. The scene is a hallmark type of Pergamum, the renowned centre of the cult of Asclepius. The Greek legend ΠΕΡΓΑΜΗΝΩΝ Β appears in the field, identifying the city of Pergamum and its status as a twice-neocorate city. The reverse is heavily worn but the principal iconographic elements remain discernible.
