| 表面の説明 | Bare-headed or laureate bust of Lucius Septimius Geta Caesar facing right, depicted with youthful features consistent with his portraiture as Caesar under Septimius Severus. The effigy shows the bust truncated at the shoulder, with drapery faintly discernible, rendered in the provincial style typical of the Lydian mint at Maeonia. The surface carries a dark green patina with areas of red-brown encrustation obscuring portions of the legend and portrait detail. |

Maeonia was a minor Lydian city in the Hermus valley whose civic coinage under Septimius Severus belongs to a broader surge of provincial bronze production that followed his victory in the civil wars of 193–197 AD. Having eliminated Pescennius Niger and Clodius Albinus, Severus consolidated loyalty across the eastern provinces partly through visible imperial patronage — cities responded by issuing coins bearing his name as a public declaration of alignment with the winning faction.
Maeonians coins of this type are genuinely scarce. The city's output was small even by Lydian provincial standards, and the reference V.2#70298 places this squarely among the rarer civic bronzes of the Sardis conventus.
