Aanvullende informatie

This coin was struck during Nero's celebrated tour of Greece in 66–67 AD, during which he personally competed in — and conveniently won — every major Panhellenic festival, including the Isthmian Games held at Corinth. The duoviri quinquennales named on Corinthian bronzes of this period were the presiding magistrates of the Roman colony, and ANAXILAO here belongs to a small group of named officials whose tenure can be pinned precisely to that visit.

Nero declared Greece "free" at Corinth in November 67 AD, exempting the province from taxation. The gesture was reversed by Vespasian within a few years.
