Prusa ad Olympum — modern Bursa, Turkey — sat at the foot of Mount Olympus in Bithynia and retained the right to strike local bronze coinage well into the imperial period, a privilege jealously guarded by Greek cities as one of the last tangible expressions of civic autonomy under Roman rule. Issues under Marcus Aurelius from this mint are sparsely documented, and IV.1#11143 remains one of the less frequently encountered civic bronzes of his reign from the Bithynian region.
